WHY ISLAM IS...EVIL!

ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE

EVIL: "as opposed to good. God is good. Evil is "anti-good," "anti-God"(see Genesis 2:17; Hebrews 5:14).

The feedback from this study has been FASCINATING!  By "fascinating" I mean "How quickly people seek to defend a book (the Qu'ran) that they have obviously never studied."

For now, I'll conclude with the following questions.

Question #1.  If I told you that I often beat my wife, would you consider that an evil thing to do?  Yes or no.  How 'bout if I explained to you that "It is God's will for me to beat my wife?"  Would you consider such a thing ao be "evil?"  Yes or no.

"As to those women
On whose part ye fear
Disloyalty and ill-conduct,
Admonish them (first),
(Next), refuse to share their beds,
(And last) beat them (lightly);"
-Qu'ran 4:34, bold mine

Yusaf Ali,* one of the most well known and widely respected translators of the Qu'ran  in English affirms this teaching.  Namely, that the aforementioned verse which instructs Muslim men to beat their wives is indeed, the inspired word of Allah, and means exactly what it says.

Here I find an interesting contrast between the God of the Bible and the god of the Qu'ran:

"Husbands, love your wives..."
-Ephesians 5:25, the Bible, bold mine

(Husbands), beat your wives..."
-Surah 4:34, the Qu'ran, bold mine

The contrast, it appears, is nothing short of the difference between good and...

EVIL!

The Bible is clear,

"But let your statement be,
'Yes, yes' or 'No, no';
anything beyond these is of evil."
-Matthew 5:37

Indeed.  Lying is evil.  And yet, there are circumstances within Islam when lying is not only tolerated...but commanded. "Lying is not always bad...there are times when telling a lie is more profitable and better...than telling the truth. To this affect the prophet (Muhammad) says, 'He is not a false person who (through lies) settles conciliation..." -Afif A. Tabbarah, The spirit of Islam, p. 247.

Allah sanctions Lying (see surah 5:89; 2:225; 16:106).

Muhammad santions lying:

"That she heard Allah's Apostle saying,
'He who makes peace between the people
by inventing good information
or saying good things, is not a liar.'"
-Bukhari Hadith, 3:857

"An example of Islamic deception is that Muslim activists always quote the passages of the Quran from the early part of Mohammad's ministry while living in Mecca. These texts are peaceful and exemplify tolerance towards those that are not followers of Islam. All the while, they are fully aware that most of these passages were abrogated (cancelled and replaced) by passages that came after he migrated to Medina. The replacement verses reflect prejudice, intolerance, and endorse violence upon unbelievers." -Abdullah Al Araby, Lying in Islam

Incredibly, lying and Islam go hand in hand. Jesus warned that in the "age of delusion" religious deception would be so great that it would be difficult for even the "elect" to avoid being duped. I have no doubt that the god of Islam is very, very real, and that such a god is clearly taught in the Bible. His name? Satan.
"You belong to your father, the devil,
and you want to carry out your father’s desires.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
not holding to the truth,
for there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks his native language,
for he is a liar and the father of lies."
-John 8:44
And anybody who would try and tell you that this isn't true...guess what?*

denies that Jesus is the Christ?
This is the antichrist,
the one who denies the Father and the Son."-1 John 2:22, the Bible, bold mine
"Every spirit that confesses that
Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is from God; and every spirit that
does not confess Jesus is not from God;
this is the spirit of the antichrist,
of which you have heard that it is coming,
and now it is already in the world."

"For many deceivers have gone
out into the world, those who do not
acknowledge Jesus Christ as
coming in the flesh.  This is
the deceiver and the antichrist."-2 John 7, the Bible, bold mine

One of the clearest and most concise teachings of the New Testament is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  "The word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us...He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God...And He (Jesus) is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature (see John 1:14; Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:3).

Equally clear, the Bible declares that any teaching that denies Jesus as the Son of God is "deception," "anit-christ," "evil" (see above, 1 John 2:22, 4:2-3; 2 John 7).

"For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son..."

"God, the Eternal, Absolute,
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten."-Surah 112:2-3, the Qu'ran,* bold mine

"They (Christians) indeed, practise falsehood.
No son did God beget..."
-Surah 23:90-91, the Qu'ran,* bold mine

"Is it not that they (Christians)
say, from their own invention,
'God has begotten children'?
But they (Christians) are liars!"-Surah 37:151-152, the Qu'ran,* bold mine

Why this series?  Because:

"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil."

*By definition, all Muslims believe the Qu'ran to be the verbatim word of God as given to Muhammad.

In  the advertisement for his best-sellling book "Become a Better You," Joel Osteen declares, "God always wants us to increase" (click here to listen).  The problem of course, is that the "god" he is ignorantly (I hope) refering to is "the god of this world," the Devil, not the God of the Bible.

"He (Jesus) must increase, I must decrease."
-John 3:30

To truly become like Jesus is to "decrease."  More of God, less of me.  More of His will, less of mine.  Living for the glory of God...at the cost of my own glory (look again at Jesus' definition of Christianity, Matthew 16:24-26).

Recently, God spoke to me during an early morning prayer meeting saying,

"Everything in your life that was
going to move you in the direction
of YOUR glory, I strongly opposed.
And everything that would move
you in the direction of MY glory,
I strongly supported."

As I have since reflected back on the key circumstances, situations and events that have shaped my life, using this revelation as a grid, I find myself transformed by it.

So how 'bout you?  Is it possible that this revelation is not just about me?  Is it possible that this is God's posture in the life of every true believer?

I (Jesus) do not receive glory from men;
How can you believe, when you
receive glory from one another
and you do not seek the glory
that is from the one and only God?

To be like Jesus is to forsake your own glory.  To follow Christ is to reject your own will for the will of God (see Luke 22:42).  Indeed, the first step in a real Christian's walk with God is to deny yourself:

"Then Jesus said to His disciples,
'If anyone wishes to come after Me,
he must deny himself, and take up
his cross and follow Me.  For whoever
wishes to  save his life will lose it;
but whoever loses his life for My sake
will find it.  For what will it profit a man
if he gains the whole world and
forfeits his soul? Or what will a man
give in exchange for his soul?'"-Matthew 16:24-26, Luke 9:23-25,
Mark 8:34-37, bold mine

There are not 5 purposes in life as Rick Warren would suggest (See "The Purpose Driven Life"), nor is the Christian walk primarily about you, as Joel Osteen espouses (See "Become a Better YOU," "YOUR Best Life Now,"It's YOUR Time").

No, the Christian life is not about you*, not even a little bit.  And there's only one purpose in life:

"Everyone who is called by My name,
And whom I have created for My glory,
Whom I have formed,
even whom I have made.”
-Isaiah 43:7, bold mine
"Whether then you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).

*I do however, understand the predicament that folks like Mr. Osteen and Mr. Warren are in.  Book titles like, "It's Not About You!," and "Deny Yourself  Daily," are titles that probably won't wind up on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

Every baby is born selfish.  Does that make selfishness good?  Does that mean they must embrace selfishness in adulthood to be happy?  Does it mean they cannot change?  Does it mean they shouldn't change?

Is teaching a small child not to be selfish a bad thing?  Is challenging a child's selfishness intolerant,* biggoted and judgmental?
