"Always being ready to make a defense
to everyone who asks you to give
an account for the hope that is in you..."-1 Peter 3:15
to everyone who asks you to give
an account for the hope that is in you..."-1 Peter 3:15
Statements such as:
"There is no such thing as absolute truth."
"You can't know anything for sure."
"You shouldn't judge."
may sound legitmate on the surface but in reality are nonsensical and ridiculous! They are "self-defeating."
Consider the first claim, "There is no such thing as absolute truth." For that statement to be true, it would have to be false!
In other words, the statement itself is declaring an absolute truth,
while at the same time claiming that there is no such thing as absolute
truth...DO YOU SEE IT?!
Likewise, the person who says, "You can't know anything for sure," is at the same time saying that his own statement is completely unreliable! In other words, If you can't know anything for sure then even the claim itself is uncertain...DO YOU GET IT?!
Finally, the phrase, "You shouldn't judge," is itself a judgement! When someone says, "You shouldn't judge," they are doing the very thing that they are telling others not to do...COMPRENDE?!
Indeed, the individual who would learn to identify and expose the myriad of "self-defeating" arguements so prominent in today's "Age of Delusion," would quickly find himself to be...
An expert at defending the faith!
Conclusion tomorrow.
