Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion |
one nation, under...judgement!
4
"A country that was once filled
with worshippers of God was now
a bastion for God's enemies."
How crazy must those days have been, just prior to the judgement! The Bible tells us that their hypocricy came as easily as breathing (see Jeremiah 7:8-10). Even the preachers and spiritual leaders had become corrupt.
How SHOCKING must it have been for God's messenger to appeared before the Lord as he had done so many times before to make intercession on behalf of the people, only to hear God say,
How SHOCKING must it have been for God's messenger to appeared before the Lord as he had done so many times before to make intercession on behalf of the people, only to hear God say,
"Do not pray for this people,
and do not lift up cry or prayer for them,
and do not intercede with Me,
for I do not hear you."-Jeremiah 7:16, bold mine

How utterly and profoundly heartbreaking it must have been to have the Lord instruct the man of God saying,
"Do not pray for this people,
nor lift up a cry or prayer for them;
for I will not listen when
they call to Me because of their disaster."
-Jeremiah 11:14, bold mine

What
a TRAGIC ending to a country that had once been the "Apple of God's
Eye," and a "light among the nations." The date on God's warranty for
repentance had finally expired. Their rejection of God had reached full maturity.
And so one third and final time "the weeping prophet" cried out to the Lord for mercy but God said,

I am not going to accept them. Rather,
I am going to make an end of them
by the sword, famine and pestilence."

And it came like a thief in the night.
Of course, I'm referring to the stunning fall and collapse of ancient Israel.
