Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion |
a word for the ambitious
Ambition: An earnest desire for some type of acheivement or distinction.
"Whoever wishes to become great
among you shall be your servant;
and whoever wishes to be first
among you shall be slave of all.
For even the Son of Man
did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give His life a ransom for many.”
-Mark 10:43-45

among you shall be slave of all.
For even the Son of Man

and to give His life a ransom for many.”
-Mark 10:43-45
Ambition
for the Kingdom of God is wonderful...but BEWARE! He who would be
like Jesus is NEVER A SELF-PROMOTER. Jeremiah said, "Are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them" (Jeremiah 45:5).
We do well to heed the following guidline:
In the true Kingdom of God,
it is God alone who exalts a man.
-see Psalm 75:7
it is God alone who exalts a man.
-see Psalm 75:7
The one who abides in Jesus knows that,
Do your work heartily as unto the Lord, YES! (see Colossians 3:23), but
NEVER SEEK YOUR OWN GLORY!
-see John 8:50, 54
-see John 8:50, 54
Self-promotion is the way of the world
(see John 2:15-17). If God wants to "raise you up" He will do so in
His way, and in His timing. And if He never chooses to do so, the
sincere servant of God is content with such, knowing that,
"The Lord will accomplish what concerns me."
-Psalm 138:8
-Psalm 138:8
Self-promotion, no matter how great the "fruit," merely results in a larger "bon-fire" on Judgement Day (see 1 Corinthians 3:13, 15).
