Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion
DUPED!

Resurrecting the Spirit of the Bereans
in the Age of Delusion

2
"For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect - if that were possible."Matthew 24:24
"duped"...easily tricked or fooled.
When I say, "President Obama is not a Christian," which of the following responses would best exemplify your own?
A. "Your wrong. He says he is and I believe him."
B. "Only God knows, and it's not for me to judge."
C. "Who are you to judge another man's faith in God- the Bible warns us not to judge.
D. "OBVIOUSLY."
If your answer was A, B, or C,  you believe that someone is a Christian just because they say that they are, and that it's not our role to judge, you are going to be "easy pickins" in this "age of delusion" in which we live.

The Bible says of Jesus in Isaiah 11:3,
"He will not judge by what His eyes see,
nor make a decision by what His ears hear;
But with righteousness He will judge..."
Further, Jesus Himself admonished us in John 7:24

"Do not judge according to appearance,
but judge with righteous judgment."
But you say, "WAIT JUST A MINUTE!  DOESN'T THE BIBLE TEACH US "NOT TO JUDGE?"

My friend, if that is your response...then you've ALREADY BEEN DUPED!

I'll tell you what the Bible ACUTUALLY TEACHES about "judgement" tomorrow.

"For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miraclesto deceive even the elect - if that were possible."Matthew 24:24
And the Church isn't ready right now.  Not even close!  It is truly pathetic how easily "duped" the average Christian is.
"duped"...easily tricked or fooled.
For example:  When I say, "President Obama is not a Christian," which of the following responses would best exemplify your own?
A.  "Your wrong.  He says he is and I believe him."
B.  "Only God knows, and it's not for me to judge."
C. "Who are you to judge another man's faith in God-    the Bible warns us not to judge.
D.  "OBVIOUSLY."
The biblically literate answer is D.  In other words, if you consider yourself a Christian, yet answered anything other than D, you are among the "MANY" who are in great danger of being "DUPED!"

Why Does the Church Exist?

GodThoughtsWired!        Thursday, September 16, 2010
Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion

Why Does the Church Exist?

"Let all things be done for edification."
1 Corinthians 14:26

I was recently asked the question, "Is church for the believer, or the unbeliever?" My answer was, "Wrong question?" The church exists to help people find God and nurture their relationship with Him.

The Biblical definition of a "seeker" is someone who is sincerely "seeking God," or "seeking truth." A "seeker-sensitive" church by Biblical definition would be FILLED WITH TRUTH AND FILLED WITH GOD.

My heart breaks, and aches when I hear things like, "We don't talk about money in our church because we don't want to offend "seekers." I guess somebody forgot to teach Jesus how to "do church," since He talked about money more than anything else (Of course, I'm being sarcastic - Jesus taught so much about money because it is so central to the heart of man).

"For where your treasure is
there will your heart be also."

Matthew 6:21

Tragically, all too often "seeker-sensitivity" is merely an excuse for compromise. I'm all for "cultural relevance," "state-of-the-art technology" and excellence from the platform, but for PETE'S SAKE (or more literally, Christ's sake), whatever happened to...THE BIBLE!

A careful study of the Bible will show that it is only the methodology that is supposed to change...NEVER THE MESSAGE!

The World's Greatest Invitation! 2

GodThoughtsWired!                Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion
the world's greatest invitation!
"In those days, there was no king in Israel;
everyone did what was right in his own eyes."
Judges 21:25
 Yesterday I wrote:
"In my opinion, it is the world's greatest invitation. There isn't even a close second. Can you guess what it is? "
Some of your answers were:
"Righteousness," "Servanthood," "Come," "Salvation," "Obey, "Freedom," and "Believe."  All are very good answers, however, the one word that I was looking for is...REPENT!  A special congratulation to Larry Curtis and Barb Hightower of Moraga, CA., who gave the correct answer just moments after sending it out.
IT'S THE WORLD'S GREATEST INVITATION:
Isaiah: "In repentance and rest you shall be saved" (Isaiah 30:15).
Jeremiah: "Return (repent) O' faithless sons...Return (repent) O' faithless sons..Return (repent) O' faithless sons..(Jeremiah 3:10, 12, 22).
Ezekeil: "For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies, declares the Lord God. Therefore, repent and live" (Ezekiel 18:32; see also, verses 20-31).
John the Baptist: "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand" (Matthew 3:2).
Jesus: "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand" (Matthew 4:17).
Peter: "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
Paul: "God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent...That they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance" (Acts 17:30; 26:20).
The 12 Apostles: "They went out and preached that men should repent" (Mark 6:12).
Jesus to the churches of churches of Revelation: "Repent...Repent...Repent...Repent...Repent...Repent...Repent...Repent..."(Revelation 2 & 3).
The angels: "There will be more joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents...There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents" (Luke 15:7, 10).
"Repentance: The only hope for the America."

The World's Greatest Invitation! 1

GodThoughtsWired!                Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion
the world's greatest invitation!

1
"In those days, there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes."
Judges 21:25
In my opinion, it is the world's greatest invitation. There isn't even a close second. Can you guess what it is? I'm so excited about this series that I'll give a complimentary copy of my latest book, GodThoughts, Volume 2 to the first person to guess the correct answer.
Here are some clues:
-The invitation is given by God to all who are willing to receive it.
-It is a one-word invitation.
-It is a "conditional" invitation.
-Judges 21:25 (see above) is a HUGE HINT.
-God sent this very specific invitation via Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, John the Baptist, Jesus, John, Peter, to name a few. They all used EXACTLY (meaning that the English translation of the Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic are all the SAME WORD) the same terminology.
-Curiously (based on the numerous books and commentaries found in our local Bible book stores, as well as the many sermons that I have heard over the years), most pastors are unaware that the apostle Paul also (along with those listed above) used this single word to described this gospel message.
Well...WHADAYATHINK?
