HOW TO BECOME AN EXPERT AT...

DEFENDING THE FAITH!

3
"Always being ready to make a defense
to everyone who asks you to give|
an account for the hope that is in you..."
-1 Peter 3:15
And finally, what about the statement,
Again, this is nonsensical.  Please listen carefully,
All truth, by definition is
absolute, extremely narrow,
and utterly exclusive!
If something is true, then
it is true for everybody,
everywhere, all the time.
For example, 2 + 2 = 4.  This is either true or false.  If it is true, which it is, then there is no other correct answer to 2 + 2 (2 + 2 cannot = 5, nor can 3 + 3 = 4).  And there has never been a person anywhere, at any time, to which this does not apply.
Jesus said that He is the only way to salvation (see John 14:6).  Either He is, or He is not.  If He is not, then He is not the way of salvation for anybody.  However, if He is, then He is the only way of salvation for everone.
"There is salvation in no one else,
For no other name under Heaven
has been given among men by which
we must be saved."

-Acts 4:12
The above "truth claim" is either true or false.  And like all truth, if it is true then it is true for everybody, everywhere, all the time.

"Always being ready to make a defense

-1 Peter 3:15
Statements such as:
"There is no such thing as absolute truth."
"You can't know anything for sure."
"You shouldn't judge."
may sound legitmate on the surface but in reality are nonsensical and ridiculous!  They are "self-defeating."
Consider the first claim, "There is no such thing as absolute truth."  For that statement to be true, it would have to be false!  In other words, the statement itself is declaring an absolute truth, while at the same time claiming that there is no such thing as absolute truth...DO YOU SEE IT?!
Likewise, the person who says, "You can't know anything for sure," is at the same time saying that his own statement is completely unreliable!  In other words, If you can't know anything for sure then even the claim itself is uncertain...DO YOU GET IT?!
Finally, the phrase, "You shouldn't judge," is itself a judgement!  When someone says, "You shouldn't judge," they are doing the very thing that they are telling others not to do...COMPRENDE?!
Indeed, the individual who would learn to identify and expose the myriad of "self-defeating" arguements so prominent in today's "Age of Delusion," would quickly find himself to be...
An expert at defending the faith!
Conclusion tomorrow.

-1 Peter 3:15
We live in what the Bible calls the "Age of Delusion:" (see 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).  A key characteristic of this age is the rejection of truth (see above verses).
Consider the following statements:
"There is no such thing as absolute truth."
"You can't know anything for sure."
"You shouldn't judge."
Have you ever heard (or said?) these statements, or comments like them?  How about this one:
These kinds of imbecilic statements epitomize the ignorant delusion that much of the world has now embraced.
And I'll explain precisely why tomorrow.

we no longer use the Bible in
our church services...
What's important is that we
are meeting the perceived needs

One Nation, Under...JUDGEMENT! 4

GodThoughtsWired!               Thursday, June 21, 2012
Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion

one nation, under...judgement!

4

"A country that was once filled
with worshippers of God was now
a bastion for God's enemies."

How crazy must those days have been, just prior to the judgement!  The Bible tells us that their hypocricy came as easily as breathing (see Jeremiah 7:8-10).  Even the preachers and spiritual leaders had become corrupt.

How SHOCKING must it have been for God's messenger to appeared before the Lord as he had done so many times before to make intercession on behalf of the people, only to hear God say,

"Do not pray for this people,
and do not lift up cry or prayer for them,
and do not intercede with Me,
for I do not hear you."
-Jeremiah 7:16, bold mine

How utterly and profoundly heartbreaking it must have been to have the Lord instruct the man of God saying,

"Do not pray for this people,
nor lift up a cry or prayer for them;
for I will not listen when
they call to Me because of  their disaster."

-Jeremiah 11:14, bold mine

What a TRAGIC ending to a country that had once been the "Apple of God's Eye," and a "light among the nations."  The date on God's warranty for repentance had finally expired.  Their rejection of God had reached full maturity.

And so one third and final time "the weeping prophet" cried out to the Lord for mercy but God said,
"Do not pray for the welfare
of this people.  When they fast
I am not going to listen to their cry...
I am not going to accept them.  Rather,
I am going to make an end of them
by the sword, famine and pestilence."

-Jeremiah 14:11-12, bold mine
And it came like a thief in the night.

Of course, I'm referring to  the stunning fall and collapse of ancient Israel.

Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion

One nation, under...judgement!

3

"They erased their standards
of morality and ethics,
and the values upon which
the country had been built
."

The rejection of their God led to the adandonment of their standards which resulted in a fantastic decay in the overall culture.  Within decades sensuality replaced spirituality.  Profanity replaced holiness, and righteousness was engulfed by self-interest.  A nation founded on God had become strangers to God.

Most heinous was the sacrifice of their children.  The literal killing of children.  Everything became backwards.
"Woe to those who call evil good,
and good evil; Who substitute darkness
for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!"
-Isaiah 5:20
What had once been "self-evident" was no longer.  What was once immoral and decadent was now championed and celebrated.  The profane became sacred, and the sacred profane.  Righteousness became outdated, intolerant, unenlightened and "politically incorrect."  A country that was once filled with worshippers of God was now a bastion for God's enemies.

Of course, I'm recounting the history of ancient Israel.

"Apart from returning to the God
of their forefathers their would
be no safety, but they wouldn't
realize it...until it was too late."
It had surely been SHOCKING!, that first attack.  The entire country had been "numbed," at least for a time afterwards.  It was the first time in their glorious history that the supernatural hedge of protection had been temporarily removed.
God was attempting to get their attention.  He was beckoning them to return to Him and at first, it appeared that the sleeping nation had been awakened - but alas, within weeks the status quo had returned.  Status quo?

Well, it didn't happen all at once.  It took time for their "spiritual amnesia" to take full effect.  At first it was subtle, then outright, ultimately...brazen!  They had forgotten the God upon whom their grand heritage had been built.  Their cornersone was in the process of becoming a tombstone.  The God they had once revered was now being rejected.

They drove Him out of national life and replaced Him with other "gods."  They erased their standards of morality and ethics, and the values upon which the country had been built were relegated to the garbage heap of a past generaltion who was now wrinkled and always "unenlightened."

Of course, I'm recounting the history of ancient Israel.

One nation, under...judgement!
1
“They have healed the brokenness
of My people superficially,
Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
But there is no peace."
-Jeremiah 6:14
Ultimately, when their time came, they were led into war against the country now known as Iraq.  It would be a precursor to their final judgement.
The problem however, was that the answer to their dilemma didn't lie in military might or power.  Apart from returning to the God of their forefathers their would be no safety, but they wouldn't realize it...until it was too late.
Ever since the first attack, a shadow loomed over their country like a dark cloud.  But several years had passed now, and all had returned to the "new normal."  Indeed, the warning had been given, but far from repentance, only defiant arrogance marked their response.  And they plunged deeper and deeper into their apostasy.
Of course, I'm recounting the history of ancient Israel...

A Man After God's Own Heart?

You've Got To Be Kidding Me!
He was a liar and a thief, a murderer and an adulterer.  And yet, he is also the only man in the Bible to be called,
"A man after God's own heart."
-1 Samuel 13:14
Do you know why?*
*I'll send a FREE, SIGNED copy of the original, limited-edition GodThoughts, Volume 1, hard-back book, to the first person to correctly answer.
HINT:  The answer is NOT because he repented when confronted by Nathan the prophet-David hid his sin for more than a year prior to his ultimate confession!

A Word for the AMBITIOUS!

GodThoughtsWired!                             June..., 2012
Evangelizing the Church in the Age of Delusion

a word for the ambitious

Ambition:  An earnest desire for some type of acheivement or distinction.
"Whoever wishes to become great
among you shall be your servant;
and whoever wishes to be first
among you shall be slave of all.
For even the Son of Man
did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give His life a ransom for many.”

-Mark 10:43-45
Ambition for the Kingdom of God is wonderful...but BEWARE!   He who would be like Jesus is NEVER A SELF-PROMOTER.  Jeremiah said, "Are you seeking great things for yourself?  Do not seek them" (Jeremiah 45:5).
We do well to heed the following guidline:
In the true Kingdom of God,
it is God alone who exalts a man.
-see Psalm 75:7
The one who abides in Jesus knows that,
NO STRIVING IS EVER NECESSARY!
-see Psalm 46:10
Do your work heartily as unto the Lord, YES! (see Colossians 3:23), but
NEVER SEEK YOUR OWN GLORY!
-see John 8:50, 54
Self-promotion is the way of the world (see John 2:15-17).  If God wants to "raise you up" He will do so in His way, and in His timing.  And if He never chooses to do so, the sincere servant of God is content with such, knowing that,
"The Lord will accomplish what concerns me."
-Psalm 138:8
Self-promotion, no matter how great the "fruit," merely results in a larger "bon-fire" on Judgement Day (see 1 Corinthians 3:13, 15).

-2 Thessalonians 2:10-11
Massachusetts: A federal judge has ordered the "gay" agenda taught to Christians who attend a public school in Massachusetts, finding that they need the teachings to be "engaged and productive citizens."
U.S. District Judge Mark L. Wolf recently dismissed a civil rights lawsuit brought by David Parker, ordering that it is reasonable, indeed there is an obligation, for public schools to teach young children to accept and endorse homosexuality.
In April 2006 the same school presented the book "King and King," about homosexual romances and marriage, to second-graders without any prior notification to parents (Bob Unruh © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com, bold mine).

"It would be better for him if a millstone

"My people are destroyed
for lack of knowledge..."

-Hosea 4:6a
In his third "Law of Motion," Sir Isaac Newton stated that "for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction."*
In other words, every action has a consequence. Newton identified the universal principle of "sowing and reaping" (see Galatians 6:7) in the natural world.
Well, the 3rd Law of Motion, or the principle of "sowing and reaping" applies to the spritual world as well. In other words, there are spiritual or "supernatural" consequences that are set in motion determined by how we respond to the laws of God.
In 1963, Abington v. Shempp, the United States Supreme Court ruled that voluntary reading of the Bible in public schools was "unconstitutional." They said,
"If portions of the New Testament
were read without explanation,
they could be and have been
psychologically harmful to the child."
What was once considered a vital part of the healthy develeopment of every American child since the founding of the country (see GodThoughtsWired!, March 21, 2007) had suddenly become "psychologically harmful."
Tragically, now almost 50 years since, the subtle slide of Christianity away from the public square has become a spiritual avalanche.
The Bible says, "You will know them by their fruit" (Matthew 7:20). So, what's the fruit? According to TIME magazine:
"Only half of U.S. adults know the title
of even one Gospel. Most can't name
the Bible's first book. The trend extends
even to Evangelicals, only 44%
of whose teens could identify a
particular quote as coming from
the Sermon on the Mount."

-April 2, 2007
"We have become "a nation of biblical illiterates." -George Gallup
"Since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children."

UNDERSTANDING

TODAY'S

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

2

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN MARCH, 2007

In May 15, 2001, CBS News Anchor Dan Rather appeared on a show called The O'Reilly Factor. In an explanation that he gave as to why he thought Bill Clinton to be an upright man Rather said, "I think you can be an honest man and lie about any number of things."
Those who are deceived
don't know they are deceived
because they are deceived.

-pastor Brad

In order to truly understand today's America, we must first become students of our history. Only then can we see how far we have "drifted." In 1778 the 4th president of the United States, James Madison said,
We have staked the whole future
of American civilization...
upon the capacity of each and all
of us to govern ourselves according
to the Ten Commandments of God.
*

102 years later "sin" had taken away our understanding. In 1980, the "delusion of sin" was in full effect at the highest level of our legislative branch of government, the United States Supreme Court.
Literally ignoring 150 YEARS! of precedents, the Supreme Court ruled in a Kentucky case, Stone v. Graham, that the Ten Commandments could not be posted in schools:
"If the posted copies of the Ten
Commandments are to have any
effects at all, it will be to induce
the school children to read,
meditate upon, and perhaps to
venerate and obey, the Commandments...
This is not...a permissible...objective."

Tragically, we have forsaken the warnings of our forefathers:
"Let the children...be carefully instructed
in the principles and obligations of
the Christian religion. This is the
most essential part of education.
The great enemy of the salvation of men...
never invented a more effectual means
of extirpation (removing) Christianity
from the world than by persuading mankind
that it was improper to read the Bible at schools."
**
