TRUTH WINS!

1

My initial reaction to Rob Bell's book, Love Wins was "heartbreak," "anger," and "deep sadness," but then I remembered the words of Jesus,

"For false Christs and false prophets
will arise...so as to mislead,
if possible, even the elect."
-Matthew 24:24
Remarkably, when the followers of Jesus asked Him what to look for prior to His return He told them that first and foremost, "widespread religious deception" would be the hallmark of the "end times."

Thus, it's not at all surprising that a book that teaches a "false gospel" portraying a "false christ" would debut at#2 on the NY Times Best Seller's List in this "time of the end."

The errors in Bell's book are blatant and egregious and therefore cannot be ignored.  If Mr. Bell were simply writing a fiction novel I wouldn't waste the energy and effort.  However, the fact that he presents his teaching as "historic, orthodox Christian" (p. x), and truly believes that his thoughts are "biblical" requires a response by those of us who take "sound doctrine" seriously.

"I solemnly charge you in the presence
of God and of Christ Jesus,
who is to judge the living and the dead,
and by His appearing and His kingdom:
preach the word; be ready in season
and out of season; reprove, rebuke,
exhort, with great patience and instruction.
For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine;
but wanting to have their ears tickled,
they will accumulate for themselves
teachers in accordance to their own desires
,
and will turn away their ears from
the truth and will turn aside to myths
."
-2 Timothy 4:1-4, bold mine
The Bible teaches us that in the last days "many will be misled."  And in these days, many ARE being misled by the politically correct, ear-tickling dogma of Rob Bell.
I'll begin addressing the specifics tomorrow.
