"The Wounds of a Friend"
Some of My Notes from 2 Thessalonians

"We hear that some among you are leading
an undisciplined life..."
2 Thessalonians 3:11

"Go therefore and make...DISCIPLES!" (Matthew 28:19, caps and emphasis mine).  It's called the Great Commission.  The call to be, and make disciples for Jesus Christ.  The challenge:

YOU CAN'T BE A GOOD DISCIPLE
WITHOUT DISCIPLINE.

Even the root words are the same, "Disciple" ine.  Indeed, a "disciple" is a "disciplined follower of Jesus."  To the one not yet convinced, here are a few friendly (see Galatians 4:16) reminders:

"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid" (Proverbs 12:1).  Were you aware that the word "stupid" was really in the Bible?  Biblically, it is the definition of someone who lives "an undisciplined life."

"Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline" (Proverbs 13:18).  OUCH!  Those who "neglect discipline" are destined for heartache and sorrow...according to God.

"Cease listening, my son, to discipline, and you will stray from the words of knowledge" (Proverbs 29:20).  Translated:  It is NOT POSSIBLE to remain right with the Lord without discipline.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend (see Proverbs 17:5-6).
