"There is no fear in love..."

1 John 4:18

It's INCREDIBLE to me how fearful the average person is.  Church-goer or not, the world is filled with fearful people.  Earthquakes, hurricanes, death, taxes, gas prices - people are afraid.  Why?  "The one who fears has not been perfected in love" (1 John 4:20).  It's true, those subject to fear have not experienced the intimacy available with the One who said, "Do not fear for I am with you" (Isaiah 41:10).

"God has not given us a spirit of timidity."

2 Timothy 1:7

Indeed!  The spirit of fear is not of God.  Fear is a thief!  "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).  In a world of fear, I'd say that's quite an invitation.
