"The Wise Man"
"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but a wise man is he who seeks counsel."
Proverbs 12:15
Why? Why does the "wise man" seek counsel? Because he has learned that, "There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25). And why is that true? Well,
"The heart is deceitful above all else and desperately sick...
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool..."
Jeremiah 17:9; Proverbs 28:26
This is why the "wise man" learns to, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). Why? Because the "wise man" knows that, "'My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts, than your thoughts,' declares the Lord" (see Isaiah 55:8-9).The "wise man" has come to believe that this is true, and he puts his trust in it.
It's how he became the "wise man."
