"Skating on Thin Ice" "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also kept you from sinning against Me." Genesis 20:6 Fascinating! King Abimelech walked in integrity and did not harm Abraham's wife, Sarah. And, then God reminded him that it was He who had given him that integrity. So God's role was to give Abimelech the power to walk uprightly, and it was Abimelech's role to walk in the power than God had given him. "A man can receive nothing unless it is given him from heaven." John 3:27 I've heard Christians say, "God hasn't delivered me from that yet." Of course, the problem with that Biblically is, "His divine power has granted to us EVERYTHING pertaining to life and godliness." 2 Peter 1:3 To be honest, it's probably more accurate for that individual to say, "I haven't chosen to access God's power to deliver me from that yet" (see 2 Corinthians 12:9). The way I understand it, according to the Bible, there are two basic choices in life: "As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, So walk in Him." Colossians 2:6 The first choice is whether or not to receive Jesus as Lord. The second choice is whether or not to walk in Him. Some claim that the first can be done without the second. I call that... "Skating on thin ice." |
