"Destined For Deception!"
PART 1
"His divine power has granted to us
everything pertaining to life and godliness."
PART 1
"His divine power has granted to us
everything pertaining to life and godliness."
2 Peter 1:3
Many are the opinions of men, but ultimately only one opinion matters. The opinions of men are only valuable to the extent that they help us understand God's opinion. Many books are written, but only one book ultimately matters (see Ecclesiastes 12:12-14). The only value of books other than the Bible are those written to help us understand the Bible. Thus, the significance of Acts 17:11, "They received the word with great eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so."
Herein lies the MAJOR PROBLEM with much of twenty-first century Christianity. Christians are reading books and accepting opinions of men as if they were so, without first examining the scriptures to discern whether or not they are truly of God. You see, without knowledge of the word of God...
WE ARE DESTINED FOR DECEPTION!
Why? Several reasons. 1. "The heart is deceitful above all else" (Jeremiah 17:9). 2. As a result of #1, "He who puts his trust in his own heart is a fool" (Proverbs 28:26). 3. As a result of #2, "There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Proverbs 16:25). 4. "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength" (Jeremiah 17:5).
