"A POWERFUL PARADOX!"
"Finally, be strong in the Lord,
and in the strength of His might."
"Finally, be strong in the Lord,
and in the strength of His might."
Ephesians 6:10
Doesn't that get you "pumped?" Doesn't that get you "FIRED UP!" for Jesus? BE STRONG IN THE LORD! Yes! That's exactly what I want to be. That's precisely WHO I want to be for Jesus. STRONG! POWERFUL! I want to be the kind of overcomer that wields the authority and power of Jesus that stands firm in the face of temptation and declares, "BE GONE SATAN!" Don't you? And...yet...
Here we have yet another classic example of God's ways being so much higher than ours (see Isaiah 55:8-9). To be strong we must become weak. Human might is of no value in the kingdom of God, in fact, it just gets in the way. King Uzziah was a classic example of this remarkable paradox.

"When he became strong his heart became so proud
that he acted corruptly and was unfaithful to the Lord his God."
2 Chronicles 26:16

Such is the plight of the human condition. "The flesh sets itself against the spirit" (see Galatians 5:16-17). The stronger our flesh becomes, the more difficult it is for God to truly be at work in our lives. This was one of Paul's most difficult lessons to learn:
"My (God's) grace is sufficient for you (Paul), for power is perfected
in weakness...for when I (Paul) am weak then I am strong."
-see 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

A powerful paradox, don't you think?
