GodThoughtsWired!

"Does God Exist?"

"God has set eternity in our hearts."
Ecclesiastes 3:11

As most of you know, GodThoughtsWired! is a "permission-based" ministry.  This means that we send out an invitation once, and then it is up to the individual as to whether or not they want to subscribe.  Today I received an interesting response to one of our invitations that I thought you might find interesting...and informative.

The following is a response to a recent GodThoughtsWired! invitation:

"I have no idea how you got my email address. But I will take the time to
answer you.  Sorry to break the news to you, but God doesn't exist.
If God existed, so many priests would know that sexually molesting
children is forbidden by God.  If they are in charge of the church, they should know...
They are not afraid of God because they know God doesn't exist and
they can abuse anyone they want.  No need to thank me for the logic of my explanation."

And my response:

"Dear _______,

Your reference to the actions of multiple priests in the Catholic church is,
indeed, pitiful and pathetic.  However, your argument falls on the side of
GREAT EVIDENCE FOR the existence of God.  The priests that you refer to
provide a grand example of the tragic, human condition of sin, and our need
of a Savior.
The Bible says that "all have sinned and fallen short of the
glory of God"
(see Romans 3:23), and these priests are a perfect example of
that.  You and I may not have "fallen" in such a matter, however, I'm sure
you would agree that both of us fall far short of the glory of God?

The Bible tells us that the one who does not believe in the existence of God
is a "fool" (see Psalm 53:1).  Why?  Because the "fingerprints of God" are
EVERYWHERE!
From the irreducible complexity of the human being, to the
incredible nature of the universe that science continues to
discover...demands an Intelligent Designer, to the "God-shaped vacuum"
inside of each of us that only God can fill (see Ecclesiastes 3:11).

_________, beware of judging the potter by the clay (If someone uses
a baseball bat to murder someone, it is not the fault of the bat manufacturer -
the bat was made for an entirely different purpose).  The Bible warns us that
this excuse won't fly on the day of judgment.  Please take God up on His
impartial offer to seek Him with all your heart (see Jeremiah 29:13).  There
is a world of peace, joy, contentment, fulfillment, rest and zest for life
that are yet, foreign to you, because they are only found in Jesus Christ.

Dear Lord,

I pray that You will do whatever You need to in _________ life to bring him
to a point where he is willing to sincerely seek You.  And I thank You ahead
of time for Your promise to reveal Yourself to all who do.

In Jesus Name, Amen"

Sometimes you only get one shot.
