"The Kingdom of God is Like..."
A Well Manicured Lawn

As the sun was just beginning to rise on another gorgeous fall morning, the man walked slowly around the hotel in which he was staying.  Once again, he was experiencing that uncommon, supernatural intimacy with God found only during the hours that his desire for God is greater than his desire for sleep.

And the Lord spoke to him saying, "What do you see?" (see Jeremiah 1:11ff)  And he looked and saw a pristine green, incredibly well-manicured lawn.  And the revelation was immediate.  Just as a lawn will always reflect the caregiver’s effort, so it was with his relationship with God.  It  would always reflect the care it was being given

A beautiful lawn requires consistent mowing, watering, edging, occasional fertilizing, etc.  And so it was with his walk with God.  Hearing His voice was a relational thing (see John 10:27).  He found God in the proportion that he was willing to seek Him (see 2 Chronicles 15:2).  The closer he was to God, the more clearly he was able to discern His voice (see Isaiah 30:18-21).  The greater he sought Him, the more greatly he found Him (see Jeremiah 29:13).

He who has an ear to hear...let him hear.
