BUILDING THE HOUSE OF PRAYER:  2

The Bible clearly teaches that there are varying degrees of prayer effectiveness (see James 5:16).  There are prayers that produce power, and prayers that remain impotent.  There are prayers that are always answered, while others will never be answered.

The following are KEY HINDRANCES that will greatly impact our effectiveness in prayer:

-SIN.  "Even though you multiply your prayers, I will not listen" (Isaiah 1:15; see also, 59:1-2; Micah 3:4).

-WRONG MOTIVE.  "You ask and do not receive because you ask with wrong motives" (James 4:3).

-DISHARMONY IN MARRIAGE.  "Husbands...live with your wives in an understanding way...so that your prayers may not be hindered" (1 Peter 3:7).

-LACK OF FASTING.  "This kind (demons) does not go out except by prayer and fasting" (Matthew 17:21).

-OUTSIDE OF GOD'S WILL.  "If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him" (1 John 5:14-15).

Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?

And who may stand in His holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart.
