"Was Noah God?  How 'bout Job?"

"Like the Holy One who called you,
be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
because it is written, 'You shall be holy for I am holy."
1 Peter 1:15-16

Recently I've heard some terrible, TERRIBLE teachings on "Christian" radio.  Anti-biblical teachings are common in the American church today* and we need to be VERY CAREFUL that we do not become deceived along with the many that God says will be deluded here in the "last days" (see Hebrews 1:2).

First question"Would God ask you to do something you are incapable of doing?"
Second question"Would He then punish you for not doing what He asked you to do, knowing full well that you were incapable of doing it in the first place?"

I'm hopeful that your answers to both questions were something along the lines of, "OF COURSE NOT!"

Ok.  Third question:  "Was Noah God?"  "How 'bout Job?  Was Job God?"  Again, I'm hopeful that your answers to both of these questions were also something along the lines of, "OF COURSE NOT!"
Why would I ask such absurd questions?  I'm so glad you asked!
Because, of Noah the Bible says, "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God" (Genesis 6:9).  And of Job the Bible says, "There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God, and turning away from evil" (Job 1:1).

Indeed, Noah and Job were men JUST LIKE US.  They were not God.  They were created by God just like we have been created by God.  So what's my point?  My point is that we can choose to live righteously and uprightly just like they CHOSE to do.  My point is that God wouldn't call us to live holy lives, see the quote from 1st Peter above, unless we had the ability to do so.

I'll continue with this subject tommorrow.
*The reason that anti-biblical teachings abound is because so many Christians no longer know their Bibles well enough to identify false doctrine (see Hosea 4:6).
