"Eternal Tragedy 1"
"Not everyone who says to Me 'Lord, Lord,'
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does
the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many
will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord,'
did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your
name cast out demons, and in Your name perform
many miracles? And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you;
depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."
Matthew 7:21-23, (bold mine)
Until now we've not had quantitative data as to who the "many" are. We've known from the text that the "many" are "church-goers" based on there actions and comments to Jesus. But WHO are these "church-goers?"
ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?
According to an Agape Christian Service news report dated August 25, 2005, based on a Newsweek (a very respected secular periodical) poll of United States Churches:
"68% of the members of 'Evangelical Churches'
hold to the popular opinion that they, or anyone
else belonging to other religions, DO NOT HAVE
TO BELIEVE IN OR ON JESUS CHRIST IN ORDER
TO BE SAVE OR GO TO HEAVEN."
-(CAPS MINE)
According to the Bible, this means:
-at least 68% of the members of "Evangelical Churches" are deceived.
-at least 68% of the members of "Evangelical Churches" either, a) do not know what the Bible says or, b) Do not believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible word of God.
-at least 68% of the members of "Evangelical Churches" think they are going to heaven...but are not.
-at least 68% of the members of "Evangelical Churches" think they know Jesus...but they don't.
-at least 68% of the members of "Evangelical Churches" are going to hell.
Why? Because, according to the Bible:*
"There is salvation in no one else (Jesus); for there
is no other name (Jesus) under heaven that has
been given among men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:12
And according to Jesus:
"I am the way, the truth, and the life
no one comes to the Father but through Me."
John 14:6 (bold mine)
Brothers and sisters, upon my initial finding of this poll, I wept hard for about thirty minutes. Why? Because I can't think of ANYTHING worse than someone who thinks they are going to heaven, but in fact are going to hell.
Brothers and sisters, according to this poll, what's happening in roughly three-quarters of American Churches is...
"An Eternal Tragedy."
*Please note: If you disagree (which you have every right to do); your disagreement is not with me, but with the Bible; for it is the Bible that tells us there is salvation in no one other than Jesus (note Acts 4:12 & John 14:6), it is not my opinion with which you quarrel.
