"The Formula for a Successful Life"
"The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him,
and He will make them know His covenant."
Psalm 25:14
Here's a secret. Here's the formula for a successful life. Three ingredients. Here they are:
"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
James 4:7
Ingredient #1. Submit to God. I believe submission involves two components: trust and obedience. Simply spoken, submission to God means doing whatever God says to do and not doing whatever God says not to do.
Ingredient #2. Resist the devil. Resisting the devil involves a willingness to fight. I've found the most effective technique against the devil is to not give him an opportunity.
"Do not enter the path of the wicked and
do not proceed in the way of evil men.
Avoid it and do not pass by it,
turn away from it and pass on."
Proverbs 4:14-15
DO NOT ENTER! DO NOT PROCEED! AVOID IT! DO NOT PASS BY IT! TURN AWAY FROM IT!
And on the rare occasion when the devil gets an opportunity...RUN! (see Genesis 39:7-10).
Ingredient #3. Draw near to God. Here's my best advice. It applies to your relationship with God, your marriage, your family, your job, your ministry, and your leisure activity. I encourage you to memorize the following statement. Study it and meditate on it the rest of your life. Here it is:
GEAR EVERYTHING YOU DO
AROUND YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
Submit to God, resist the devil and draw near to God. I call it, "The Formula for a Successful Life."
